This latest version of The Atheist's Guide (V7) has just been updated as of March 2008. It is now a 138 page history of spirituality and religion. All other topics have been moved to its companion volume God Replacement Therapy.

The Atheist's Guide explains why religion is not simply a belief set, but is based upon the deeply ingrained instinct of spirituality. Spirituality is Not the same thing as religion! It is a belief in spirits, ghosts and the soul that is as old as the human race. This is why it is so hard for even atheists or agnostics to escape the grasp of organised religion. It examines the history of religion, from the dawn of humanity through to the modern day power structures which hold the bulk of humanity in its thrall.

It's all here- the history, the drama and the humour. Humour? Yes, because what could be funnier than religion? This book aims to be entertaining, as well as informative.

Although not an academic book by any means, this is a well-researched history of religion, from the standpoint of someone who'd like to see the back of it.
